Lani Imre

Lani was born in the interior of British Columbia. She now divides her time between Vancouver, California, and Baja. In an attempt to integrate her work as well as a vagrant and healthy lifestyle, Lani feels most content in Baja where she primarily resides. It seems that warmer climates and proximity to the ocean have provided the opportunity to paint as well as entertain a love of surfing.

Lani’s formal art training has been varied in both techniques and schools attended. Her degrees include a diploma of art from the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, B.C. and a BFA from the Nova Scotia School of Art and Design University in Halifax. She has also attended Concordia University in Montreal and completed a semester of independent study in Berkeley, California. Working with interdisciplinary intent, she has an extensive background in sculptural ceramics, drawing, and mask building. It is only in the last few years that she has chosen to focus her energy on painting.

Her paintings have been shown in San Francisco, Halifax, Montreal, Calgary and more recently, Vancouver.
